Kingda Ka Review - Six Flags Great Adventure

Kingda Ka

Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, NY

The get-go: "the noise made from the launching system is like a drug. That whine. Addicting."

Austin rides: in the front. only in the front. it's worth the wait.

Arms Down. Head Back. Hold On.

The shortest coaster time-wise at Great Adventure is absolutely incredible. A must ride.

You get new angles of the coaster since the drop tower was added.

Everyone has seen the Extreme Engineering episode of this coaster, and it was totally worth the breakdowns and headaches during construction. This coaster is like nothing else. The launch is so powerful it actually takes your breath away. Keep your mouth open during it for that funny feeling where your mouth is open as wide as it can be because the air is overfilling it. Watch out for bugs.

King of Coasters

You don't really notice that you are 450+ feet in the air after the launch because it is over that quick, you're up there in 10 seconds, and you just realize it before you start going down. The spiral is o.k. but does detract from the drop.

There's not much to write about this ride, it's over quick and it's the biggest adrenaline rush you can have in 15 seconds. I cannot imagine Dodonpa's launch after feeling this one, insane!

Drive over to the coaster in the parking lot after your day is over and listen to the launch - the sound of that launching winch is awesome, it is a drug, that whine. Whhhnnnnnnnnnn best sound in the world.

The complete ride in one frame.

Where Austin ranks this ride: Better than Hypersonic XLC at Kings Dominion, and tied with Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point.

Final brake run thoughts: No thought.. speechless, crazy, gotta ride again. And hey, the faster you go the slower you age, says Einstein, so keep riding and live forever, or something like that.
