Default TOC2 Round 1: Large Scale Inverted Coasters

This should be an exciting matchup! Three of the biggest inverted roller coasters go head to head as Busch Gardens Tampa Bay's Montu takes on Busch Gardens Williamsburg's Alpengeist vs. Carowinds After Burn (formerlly Top Gun: the Jet Coaster).

Remember to vote for your FAVORITE coaster, and two rides with the highest vote totals will advance to Round 2!

*This poll will remain open for three days, closing on Saturday, December 19, 2009.

This one was a really tough. I find Montu and Alpengeist to be very similar coasters, both are just GREAT!. But here I have to make a choice. And I will go with Montu!.

I am sure both of them are going to advance

I had to pick Alpengeist. Everything about it,the setting, the theme, the layout, it's SO unique. I love Montu, don't get me wrong, but Montu *is* basically inverted Kumba. NOT that this is a bad thing because Kumba too is a fantastc ride, but there's nothing out there like Alpengeist!

I voted for Montu. For a long time now, that ride has really impressed me (layout, theme, force, etc.) Alpengeist is a tough one. It gets very mixed reviews; I've heard it can be awesome, and also that it is very rough. Montu is just a ride I know I would like, so that's what makes it beat Alpengeist for me. Afterburn looks very good as well...I've heard that it's basically Montu but more to-the-point and very forceful, but I think length is good, and like how Montu cruises around its second half instead of going into a corkscrew and turning into the brakes.

    Possibly the toughest round yet.

Once upon a time this would have been a clear vote for Montu, but as I've said here before, most of the reasons I ever enjoyed the ride are no longer present.

Alpengeist is a beautiful structure in a great setting, but I'm voting on the ride itself, and it does nothing for me.

So I'm stuck with Top Gun (when I rode it, at least) which was not spectacular by any stretch, but at least it hadn't been tampered with and featured a nice first drop and flat spin.

    Oh you're such a trim-queen!

And to CreditCrazy - I don't think I've ever heard anyone call Alpengeist rough - unless speaking of that one snap that's always been evident transitioning into the upright portion of the cobra roll..

I too voted for Alpengeist. I like them all, but Alpengeist just wins in the theming for me. Yes I wish the trimming was gone, but can't have everything.

I've heard that Alpengeist can be a bit rough as well. However this was an easy one for me, Alpengeist all the way. It looks fantastic!

While Alpengeist win in the theme department,Montu is a better coaster in my opinion. Montu's layout and elements have a slight advantage over Alpengeist so it takes the vote for me.
Epcot Center also features pavilions built by various foreign nations, where you can experience an extremely realistic
simulation of what life in these nations would be like if they consisted almost entirely of restaurants and souvenir stores.

COnsidering how close Montu came in the first TOC, I see it getting an easy win here and going through untill almost the very end, if it doesn't take the whole thing.
